On July 22, 2020, the Dallas Court of Appeals ruled in favor of five citizens of Plano represented by the Ternan Law Firm, PLLC in the Plano Tomorrow Plan lawsuit. The citizens filed suit to obtain a court order requiring the Plano City Secretary to present a citizen petition to the City Council as required by the Plano Home Rule Charter. In a unanimous opinion, the Court of Appeals overturned a trial court ruling in favor of the City Secretary and made clear that she is obligated to present the citizen petition to the City Council within fourteen days.
